Situated by a key junction at the western gateway to London is an opportunity for a world class landmark,
designed by MAKE Architects on behalf of joint developers London & Bath Estates and Galliard.
These pages illustrate the third iteration of the remarkable Octopus proposal, for which a planning application was submitted in April 2011.
The amendments that have been made to the original proposal are as a result of comments made by members of the public, the local
authority and various other bodies. These amendments include a reduction in the number of advertising screens to three at ground level and to one at
motorway level, and to an increase in the accommodation to a gross area of 6,700 square metres.
When the proposal was considered by the local authority in March 2010 the dominant issue was highway safety, particularly that of drivers on the
elevated M4 motorway. The matter was then considered at an Appeal in October 2010 and the Planning Inspector found that highway safety would not be harmed.
All other issues such as potential impact on amenity and light pollution have been fully examined, and there have found to be no adverse impacts of
any consequence. Copies of the various expert reports and of the appeal decision can be obtained by contacting
